Our history

The art of foraging, of the pure, the unprocessed, the rare!
This ancient technique, dating back to prehistoric times, which formed the basis for the survival and evolution of the human species to this day, is sought after by all foodies and gourmets around the world!

This technique and philosophy are applied by the company Fungihellas and its founder, Nektarios Filippopoulos.

Together and in collaboration with a collective of dozens of partners in every corner of Greece, they collect the purest and rarest ingredients (mushrooms, herbs, truffles, wild fruits, and much more) and distribute them to the best restaurants, hotels, and deli shops both in Greece and abroad.
But any private individual who wants to purchase Fungihellas' exceptional products can place an order and receive them within two days.

It all started about 40 years ago, when Nektarios Filippopoulos (a young child at the time) would go out with his friends after school to the hills of Aegialia, a small village in Kalamia. Together, they would gather wild asparagus, wild greens, bulbs, and capers. They found wild mushrooms on trips with his parents to Chelmos and Kalavryta, a 3-5 hour journey by donkey!
All these experiences, after hard work in the fields, remained indelibly etched in little Nektarios' memory, and so we arrive at the present day!

Many wineries, guesthouses, and taverns in areas of our country such as Taygetos, Feneos, Zarouchla, Kalavryta, Corinth, Euboea, Boeotia, Fthiotida, and Fokida have learned to collect and utilize nature's bounty, adding value to the products of the earth thanks to the seminars offered by Fungi Hellas and mushroom foraging excursions.

Fungihellas, in collaboration with specialized partners from abroad, conducts thematic seminars with groups from the Netherlands, Switzerland, and even Israel.
Our Dutch friend Gerald has been coming here for five years now, staying for three to seven days each year to enjoy a magical journey into the world of mushrooms with the Fungi team. Alternative tourism takes shape through the group's excursions.

Nektarios and his team are proud of all this and look forward with optimism and cooperation to continuing to offer their services in the future.
Wanting to make information about these rare and seasonal species easily accessible to the public, they created the FREE Fungihellas Mobile Application, which is the first of its kind in Greece. By using the app, anyone can get real-time updates on the availability of wild mushrooms, fresh truffles, herbs, forest fruits, etc.
