Hydnum repandum, also known as the hedgehog mushroom, is an edible and tasty species of mushroom. It fruits in autumn and winter in broadleaf and coniferous forests, usually in large groups.
The underside has soft, fragile white or cream-colored spines. It grows in oak or fir forests or in mixed forests, usually in groups. The stem is 2–6 cm tall and cylindrical, smooth and compact, the same color as the cap.
The flesh is white and soft with a pleasant aroma and mild flavor.
